UberEmployers.com Privacy Policy

At ÜberEmployers.com ("Über"), protecting your privacy is very important to us. We treat your personal information with the utmost respect and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Our Privacy Policy is designed to inform our clients, and others, who deal with us, about how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information.

Canadian law governs the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in a manner that recognizes individuals’ right of privacy with respect to their personal information.

The federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) sets out rules and principles for the management of personal information by commercial organizations. Über services are made available to employers, employees and job seekers across Canada. PIPEDA applies to Über because Über has its headquarters in British Columbia, Canada. This Privacy Policy adopts the standards required by PIPEDA and applies to all personal information submitted to or collected by Über.

The services we provide may be hosted on servers outside of Canada. Subsequently any personal information that you provide may be transmitted to and stored outside of Canada.

The type of personal information that is protected includes almost any information about an identifiable individual, such as your name, address, telephone number, age, sex, marital status and nationality. Personal information may not, however, include certain types of business or employment related information. It does not, for example, include the name, title, business address or telephone number of an employee of an organization.

PIPEDA provides certain fundamental principles that apply to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information. One of the most significant is that your personal information generally cannot be collected, used or disclosed without your consent. It also allows you to find out why your personal information is being collected, how it is being used, where it’s being stored and to whom it’s disclosed. It requires the use of appropriate safeguards to secure your personal information. It also grants you access to your personal information and provides mechanisms for ensuring compliance.

Über does not collect, use or disclose your personal information without your consent except where required or allowed by law.

What is personal information and how do we collect it?

Über collects personal information about individuals (including our members, persons associated with or employed by our members, or our business contacts), in order to provide our services and to effectively manage our business relationships.

The types of personal information we collect are name and e-mail address. It is your option if you choose to provide us with gender and age information, which is not required to use any of the services on our site.

The Über site uses personal information to provide specified services and to raise awareness about recent business related developments or events that may be of relevance or interest. Personal information is shared within Über in order to communicate information about our services or solutions.

Does Über disclose personal information to anybody else?

Über will not disclose, share, sell or rent personal information we hold about you without your consent, except to external service providers we have engaged to assist us in the provision of services to our members. Where we have outsourced a function or activity to an external service provider we will only disclose personal information that the service provider needs to undertake that function or activity.

In some circumstances we may be compelled by law to disclose personal information. For example, we may be compelled to disclose personal information to law enforcement agencies or to Revenue Canada.

Protecting personal information is a priority for us. We consider security and confidentiality when handling personal information. It is important to us that the information we maintain and use is accurate, complete and up-to-date. If at any time your personal details change, please let us know so we can update our records.

Access to Personal Information

Über respects your right to access personal information we hold about you. We will allow you to access your personal information unless we are entitled to deny access under the law - for example, where the provision of access would be unlawful or would be likely to prejudice an investigation of possible unlawful activity.

Data security

Über takes reasonable steps to protect personal information it holds from misuse and loss and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. If you are submitting personal information over the internet that you wish to remain private, please note that while all attempts are made to secure information transmitted to this site, there are inherent risks in transmitting information across the internet. If you prefer, you can contact us by phone or mail. Über will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your personal information when it is no longer needed.
